My stay at Hyatt Regency Trinidad in Port of Spain was disappointing. From the start, service and attentiveness were severely lacking, with the reception taking over 24 hours to provide the price and availability for an airport pick-up.
The restaurant was highly overpriced. On my first night, I ordered a miso soup, a few mediocre sushi pieces, and a local beer, totalling an astonishing 107 US dollars.
The business centre is very small, measuring only two square metres, with just two tiny desks and chairs. The swimming pool and gym also fall short of expectations for a hotel in this price range. Furthermore, the reception staff merely relay requests without addressing any of them, leaving all inquiries unanswered.
A few days later, I stayed at the Brix hotel. If you're in Port of Spain for work, I highly recommend this second option. While not perfect, it won't be as disappointing as the Hyatt.
