Playa la Madera
Playa la Madera serves up beachy bliss without the tourist crush. Golden sands meet gentle waves along this swimmable stretch of Zihuatanejo's coast. The scenic Paseo del Pescador walkway lets you stroll from your beachfront palapa to city centre, coconut in hand. Local vendors dot the shoreline while snorkellers explore rocky outcroppings in the crystal-clear bay. Beachfront restaurants dish out fresh seafood and cold beers under the palms. Most accommodation is boutique hotels and holiday rentals with ocean views. Getting around is simple—the area is wonderfully walkable, though taxis are readily available for longer trips.

Zihuatanejo Centro
Zihuatanejo Centro captures the authentic soul of coastal Mexico where fishermen haul in daily catches alongside craft vendors. The vibrant Municipal Market buzzes with locals selling fresh seafood, colourful textiles, and regional specialities. Stroll the picturesque malecón for bay views or browse family shops for pottery and jewellery. La Madera Beach offers perfect swimming spots between exploring cobblestone streets. Family-run marisquerías serve incredible seafood while street vendors offer tasty local specialities for just a few dollars. Boutique hotels provide personal service with rooftop terraces overlooking the bay. The compact centre is easily explored on foot, with water taxis available to whisk visitors to secluded beaches.

Playa La Ropa
La Ropa Beach curves like a golden smile along Zihuatanejo's most beautiful shoreline. Boutique hotels and upscale holiday rentals cascade down jungle-covered hillsides, their infinity pools reflecting the Pacific's turquoise waters. Spend your days swimming in calm waters, kayaking along the coast, or watching local artisans display handwoven textiles along sandy walkways. Palapa-roofed restaurants serve fresh grilled fish and coconut shrimp with sunset ocean views. Most visitors rely on taxis to explore beyond the beach, though the sandy shoreline itself is perfect for peaceful evening strolls. The tranquil atmosphere makes this upscale area ideal for travellers seeking refined coastal relaxation.

Playa Las Gatas
Playa Las Gatas offers a slice of beach paradise. The crescent-shaped shoreline boasts golden sand and calm turquoise waters protected by a natural reef. Spend your day snorkelling among colourful fish, lounging under palm-thatched palapas, or strolling the water's edge with views of Zihuatanejo Bay. Beach clubs and casual restaurants serve up fresh-caught seafood and cold drinks right on the sand. Holiday homes and hotels dot the hillside above the shore. The secluded environment provides a peaceful escape from the nearby busier areas.

Cerro del Vigia
Perched on a hillside overlooking Zihuatanejo Bay, Cerro del Vigia treats you to jaw-dropping ocean views that'll make your Instagram followers weep with envy. This quiet residential haven feels miles away from tourist crowds while still keeping you close to the action. Take morning walks along winding streets and snap panoramic photos of the bay below before heading to nearby Las Gatas Beach. The area features upscale holiday rentals with private pools where you can sip margaritas with a sunset backdrop. You'll need to venture into city centre Zihuatanejo for restaurants and shopping since this area is primarily residential. Taxis are your best bet for getting around the steep terrain, though renting a car gives you more freedom to explore surrounding beaches.

Golden beaches welcome visitors to watch fishermen haul their catch on wooden boats painted in cheerful colours that seem mandatory in Mexican coastal towns. The historic city centre earned its Pueblo Mágico status honestly - cobblestone streets lead to seafood restaurants where the fish arrived hours earlier. La Ropa Beach offers gentle waters perfect for snorkelling among tropical fish that seem as curious about you as you are about them. Las Gatas Beach requires a short boat taxi but rewards with protected coves and waterfront restaurants serving cold cervezas. For a perfect day, start at the Municipal Market for breakfast, then beach-hop until sunset when the bay transforms into a postcard that no filter could improve.

Ensueño De Fuga
"Great view and awesome location. I would definitely return."
Thompson Zihuatanejo, A Beach Resort, by Hyatt
"Pros: The hotel sits on a long, wide and beautiful stretch of beach with an amazing view of the bay. Best in Play la Ropa. The grounds and gardens are beautiful and extremely well maintained. Beautiful tall palm trees throughout the property. The pools are nice and they have a separate pool for adults only. The rooms are modern and well appointed. The housekeeping staff is absolutely fantastic. They clean the room in the day and come in the evening to refresh towels and turndown. Housekeeping is best in class. The hotel has tennis courts and a gym although it is a bit small for the size of the resort. Cons: It is expensive and there are other fees. In addition to the room rate the hotel charges a "property fee". When I ordered from the room service menu the food arrived with a "delivery fee" in addition to the stated price on the menu and then they want an additional tip. The reception person at check in was not very welcoming. All she wanted was a credit card and signatures. No one walked me around to show the property. Felt more like checking into the college dorm. The property sells day passes to the public so the pools and beach may be filled with people not staying there making it crowded and less peaceful. Changes the feel of the resort. My room was a ground floor lagoon suite, not very much natural light and the patio and plunge pool sat right on the cart path so no privacy at all. Noise from above was noticeable. The food was just average."
Catalina Beach Resort
"Es un hotel amplio muy bien ubicado con una vista impresionante y una playa maravillosa sus puntos malos es la carta su carencia de alimentos el servicio de playa es malísimo con un mesero atendiendo a todos y tardado y los servicios del bar y restaurante en playa acaban súper temprano, las habitaciones les urge un mantenimiento están súper viejas camas, muebles, y las ventanas en lugar de vidrios eran plásticos de ahí en adelante todo bien."
Hilton Grand Vacations Club Zihuatanejo
"El hotel está situado en diferentes niveles los cual hace complicado el desplazamiento dentro de la propiedad para personas con discapacidad. Aunque los cuartos están limpios y bien mantenidos, no tienen pantallas que apliaciones para utilizar servicios de streaming. El personal muy amable y con buena actitud. La comida en los restaurantes de buen sabor y calidad aun que un poco caro."
Hotel Irma
"Muy bonito, limpio todo accessible al muelle, la playa y el centro"
Espacio Diez Hotel Boutique
"Espacio de diez me encanto hermosa casa muy seguro sus alrededores diez de diez."
Hotel Villa Mexicana
"Very clean place, staff very nice . The restaurant food is great and very affordable . Beautiful place ."
OYO Hotel La Playa
"Super clean. Close to many excellent restaurants"
Solez Zihuatanejo
"La ubicación del hotel es muy buena. Hay restaurantes cerca y la playa tambien. Sólo modificaría las toallas. Son muy delgadas. Definitivamente volveré. El lugar es encantador"
